The most significant update appearing in this release is the new SPAM filtering engine. The new method of detecting and filtering SPAM is a significant improvement over previous versions. Although the new SPAM filtering engine was designed to reduce the amount of false-positives (messages blocked that shouldn't be) and increase the number of actual SPAM that is blocked a good portion of users may experience more false positives than with previous versions. This is due mostly to the fact that the dictionary of known SPAM is fairly new and although it has been rigorously tested this is the first public distribution. Because of this we will be releasing new dictionaries every 24 to 48 hours based on user feedback in our Community Forum. The actions that the SPAM engine takes have also been slightly modified in order to reduce the number of users inadvertently ignored even if their messages are blocked. List of changes since Build 252. Phase 1 of the new SPAM filtering engine has been completed. The new filtering system has been completely removed from the main application and now resides in a DLL file that can easily be updated through auto update. This is the first of three major updates to the SPAM features in Y!TunnelPro. Phase 2 of the updated SPAM engine is expected to be finished within the next couple of weeks and will be made available through Auto Update. Phase 3 will be based on user feedback of Phase 1 and Phase 2 performance and will be made available in late April. Y!TunnelPro has been enhanced to use additional features of Microsoft Active Accessibility. Although Active Accessibility is not required to install or use Y!TunnelPro it is highly recommended that you install it in order to receive the full benefits of User Interface enhancements provided by Y!TunnelPro. The use of Active Accessibility allows Y!TunnelPro to add 'invisible' or hidden messages to the Chatroom window when a user has been ignored. This has the benefit of being able to remove a user from the bin and see their messages in the chatroom window as if they had never been ignored. Additionally when a user is placed into the Super Iggy Bin their messages will be also removed from the chatroom. Active Accessibility is included with Windows 2000 and Windows XP . Users with Windows98, Windows ME, and Windows NT SP6 may need to install Active Accessibility. If you are unsure of whether or not Active Accessibility is installed on your computer click on the Y!TunnelPro Task Tray Icon, go into the Technical Support Menu, and select the About option (In Build 258 and above). The System Information area will indicate whether or not Active Accessibility is installed on your machine. Active Accessibility is provided as a separate installation in the download section. A new feature has been added to the SPAM preferences panel that allows users to disable logging the contents of messages that are blocked for SPAM. Several changes have been made to allow Y!Tunnel to be installed and run without requiring administrator privileges on Windows NT, Windows2000, and Windows XP. Auto update has been completely rewritten. The new version of the auto update component is a lot more robust and reliable. Removed all external configuration files. All configuration data now reside within Y!TunnelPro with the ability to load an external configuration file when available through auto update. Discontinued the use the Microsoft HTML control for processing web pages in the Yahoo! profile scanner. This eliminates the problem quite a few users were experiencing not being able to open Internet Explore r. Changed the way the profile scanner manages login and cookie information. Cookies are now managed internally rather than by Internet Explorer. This eliminates the conflicts caused by running the profile scanner and logging into any of the Yahoo! service web pages. Updated the way the profile scanner prioritizes scanning of users. Added a new option to the profile scanner to block users with profiles that have been deleted by Yahoo!. Upgraded the Active-PMS interface to Version 7. The new Active-PMS modules now contain the SPAM filtering engine in order to allow it to be upgraded through auto update. Updated the boot code scanning engine. This should eliminate most of the problems with it still blocking people using third party IM clients on Yahoo. Added a new option to the Super Iggy Bin settings to remove users automatically ignored for SPAM after two days of inactivity (i.e. you don't encounter them for 2 days). The Super Iggy Bin and Safe List now have quick search filters. This will allow you to enter a partial name and list only those users with Yahoo ID's that match the search criteria. The Super Iggy Bin now includes a color coded display. A new column has been added to the Super Iggy Bin and includes the reason the user was ignored. The Super Iggy Bin now shows the number of users displayed in the bin. This changes automatically depending on search criteria. Several fixes have been made to both the Super Iggy Bin and Safe List management and eliminates many of the quirks when moving people onto the Safe List. Several optimizations have been made to the Super Iggy Bin which caused a significant lag on older CPU's. Y!TunnelPro will no longer log events such as rejected PM's and Invites if received from a user who is blocked by the Super Iggy Bin. The communication method between Yahoo Messenger and Y!TunnelPro has been enhanced. This eliminates problems of events such as ignoring a user or adding a user to the safe list not being received by Y!TunnelPro. Fixes to auto update which prevented it from checking for new versions. Fixes to the SPAM filtering engine which prevented it from scanning certain text. Updates to the SPAM filtering dictionary allowing it to recognize additional SPAM related material. The new features which use Active Accessibility to hide, unhide, and add text to the chatroom window is now an option and is now considered experimental. This was done due to several reports of this feature causing Yahoo! Messenger to crash. The logging features of the mini activity logger have been updated to only display chatroom and private messages if the user is not ignored.
